Things I want to remember

The days are passing quickly and I feel I am already missing out and forgetting so many little parts of my boys lives. They are doing and saying the funniest things. Even when at the moment I do not see the humor in it I look back and can't help but giggle. I don't want to forget these little things so I figured I would jot them down here.

- The other day I was exhausted and Adam told me to go and take a bath. I snuck away because I knew the boys would follow me. I was able to relax for about 10 minutes when Carson comes up with his shirt full of hot wheels. He says "I thought you wanted some toys so I went and got my cars from outside" He then proceeded to dump all the cars in the tub which soon filled with dirt....At the time I didn't find it humorous but telling a patient this story I couldn't help but laugh. It's moments like this I sigh and think 'to be a mom of boys:)'

- Carson calls girls "grills"

-Bennett shoots with his hand and makes sounds like spider man shooting his web

-When you tell Bennett "I Love You" he blows a kiss

-When Carson gets frustrated he sings 'if you get frustrated, take a step back and ask for help;)'

-My boys are water babies. When I take Bennett out of the tub he screams he doesn't want to come out.

-Carson wants to measure his height everyday to see if he is as tall as Adam

I know this isn't even tapping the surface of all the wonderful, funny, crazy things they are doing right now. I am so filled with love for them and Adam sometimes I feel like my heart hurts. I can't imagine my life without them.

Alright it's late and I'm tired and maybe I'll be able to post again before the new year ;)

We're Alive

Life has been crazy and the last couple of weeks have been some of the worst of our lives. The beginning of the end started about 4 weeks ago. We were shopping at Costco (and despite our best efforts to tell Carson to sit down) and Carson flipped out of the cart and landed on his head and back. We were worried about a concussion so we watched him for a few hours. He was screaming in pain and then started to throw up so we took him to the on call doctor. Sure enough...concussion. We had to wake him up every couple of hours and it was a long night for all of us.

The following weekend Adam had signed up for a triathalon. Which...he didn't really train for. He completed the tri in 1hr 30min but he didn't look to great at the end. We went and got lunch and soon after Adam started to throw up. We though maybe food poisoning, drinking lake water from the swim or something from the boys. Adam toughed it out all night and all Sunday. Monday morning came and his lower back was causing him a lot of pain so he went to the ER. We thought he would just need an IV and that he was probably severely dehydrated. We sat in the ER for 2 hours before they finally got him back. They started an IV and did some bloodwork. About an hour later the ER Doctor came in and explained to us that Adam had done some serious damage to both of his kidneys and he was in kidney failure. His creatine was 6.7 (most people normally are about 1-2) Adam was then admitted and we were told if his numbers hit 8 is when they usually start dialysis...:( To shorten a very long story and the worst week...Adam was in the hospital for a week. His creatine hit a high of 10.77 but because he started to urinate the nephrologist didn't feel it was yet necessary for dialysis. Once his numbers started to drop the doctor said its cheaper to be in pain at home and he was released. They said it will take about 6 months to a year for Adam to feel about normal. :( Being a single mother for a week was awful but, luckily my amazing sister in law Rachel flew out and Kendra and Rob were LIFESAVERS!!

It is experiences like this that are so humbling and we realize how many wonderful people we have in our lives.

There were a lot of late night diet coke runs for me....

Our Summer

Here is a bunch of pictures throughout this summer! We have had a wonderful summer but, secretly I'm glad its coming to an end. My favorite season is coming up and I can't wait!

Watering the flowers

The BYU Museum is pretty awesome and even better...free!

Utah has county fairs almost every weekend in July so we did a lot of roller coasters and ate lots of carnival food!

Cherry Picking in Payson

Carson and his best friend

Lots of pool time

Found my collection of beanie babies....

Maya showing Carson how to take care of her gunea pigs
Adam and Rob provided entertainment for the entire neighborhood with fireworks on the 4th of July and Pioneer Day.
Don't they look like little boys in this picture with their toys :) Kendra and I were dying!

Neighborhood kids. Carson kept asking if he could sit by all the girls ;)

Bennett is into EVERYTHING! He always get stuck in the built-ins.

We also did lots of hiking. We are so blessed to live in a such a beautiful place.

Starting him young for a love of motorcycles.

Bought Carson's Halloween costume and I knew it wouldn't last until Halloween ;)

It has been a wonderful summer full of lots of fun!!

This guy

WARNING: lots of mushy, lovey dovey stuff ahead...:)

This guy turned 30 this past month! I feel I should celebrate him everyday because he really is amazing! I have never known a man who works SO hard, has so much patience (unless he's hungry;), and who is so dedicated. 30 was a tough one for Adam so we went all out for his birthday! He is starting to do triathalons so we got him his gear and he has begun training. I think he's crazy but, I know he can do it! Adam has this amazing ability where he is good at EVERYTHING! I'm not kidding.

We love you so much and are so lucky to have you as our husband, best friend, daddy, and mentor! If I could I would get you a mustang, truck and motorcycle :) Maybe one of these on your 60th?!? :)

(sorry for the blurry pictures...Bennett got a hold of the camera and I didn't realize the lens was all smudged until after. )

Carson's 3rd Birthday!

I am a terrible mother for not posting this back in May...life just gets crazy and the last thing on my to-do list is blog. So here is a very late post on Carson's 3rd Birthday!

Carson LOVES anything super heroes. Especially Hulk, Captain America and Spiderman. This cake was SO easy to make and Carson loved it!!

He takes fighting bad guys very seriously :)

Final Product with the Thor Hammer and of course a number 3 :)

We rented a bouncy house/slip n' slide for all the kids. Even the adults got in on the fun! This was the smartest thing we have ever done! It entertained the kids and Carson LOVED it!

We can't believe our  baby is well, not a baby and has turned 3! He is signed up for preschool, potty trained, and already way too independent! He is such a light in our home. He says the funniest things and truly has a good heart. He is the best big brother even though he has  had to fend for himself on many occasions and is learner patience and how tough it is to share.

Speaking of potty training this kid is AMAZING! I thought he was ready....repeat I thought he was ready. That was my first mistake. He did great for about 2 days and when I started to pack up diapers he had a melt down and wanted them back. :( I decided to not worry about the looks I was getting from people (since Carson looks like he is 5) and let him decide when he was ready.

About 2 weeks later he just started going in the potty..all the time! He wanted big boy undies and the first night no accidents at all! He sleeps in undies and everything! For his future posterity I won't post pictures of our potty training experience ;) but I am so proud of him!!!

Now stop growing up! :)

California Road Trip

We took an awesome road trip to California this past month. We stopped in Sacramento and stayed with Adams sister Jenny and her family! We love Jenny and her family. (Carson keeps asking when we are going back:) We also drove down to San Francisco and then to Santa Clara. We never taken a vacation just the four of us like this trip and it was so much fun to bond as our little family.

On our way to San Fran we stopped by the Jelly Belly Factory. Carson was in heaven!

On the pier in San Francisco. Adam had never been and everyone loved it! Carson's favorite part was the carousel and the dock full of sea lions.

On the pier there were bubbles everywhere! Carson was in heaven

He LOVED the sand!
