Carson Update

Carson is growing so fast it is hard to keep up sometimes! This past weekend his first tooth started to show through. Poor kid, it hasn't broken through his gums yet but, hopefully soon! He has also started to push himself on his tummy a little bit which is exciting but also nerve racking (I'm going to have to start baby proofing our home:). The pictures below are of Carson trying ice cream for the first time and taking off his hats. :)

I Did It!

After having Carson there was some weight that just didn't magically disappear and I think I almost went into shock :) I had a goal set in my mind and I thought maybe it was a lofty goal but hey what the heck, I'd give it a shot! So my goal was to lose 50 pounds so I would be 10 pounds under what I gained from being pregnant.

And.....

I DID IT!!!

It is nice to see A LOT of hard work pay off!! :)

True Meaning of Christmas

I love this time of year! Everyone is nicer and you feel the closeness of our Savior even more. I loved what President Monson said during the Christmas devotional that "we should strive to keep Christmas, not spend it". After hearing his remarks I have made it a goal of mine to spend my time not in stressing gifts etc but to read and study about the Savior's life. It has brought such a peace into our home. I also love all the beautiful art that depicts the Savior with his Mother Mary after his birth. Below are a few of my favorites. I hope everyone has had a Wonderful Christmas season enjoying time with friends and family and celebrating the true meaning of Christmas.

Meeting Santa

Carson met Santa for the first time and we got the cutest pictures. We also got to go up to Gardner Village and enjoy their decorations. Carson was so good and we had so much fun!! My Mom has really enjoyed dressing Carson up for the holiday as you will see in some of the pictures below.

Adam's Surgery

Poor Adam had surgery this past Thursday and he is such a trooper!! He had a deviated septum on both sides of his nose and his turbinoids (sp??) were swollen with blood. The Doctor that performed his surgery said once he got in there his septum on the right side had a pretty large bone spur that he had to file down as well. He put splints in which are pretty uncomfortable for Adam.

He is so tough!! He hasn't taken any prescription pain medications and has hardly taken any Ibuprofen or Tylenol! I feel so bad for him but, once his recovery is over I think he will feel a lot better and will finally be able to breathe!!

Carson has been experiencing a lot of 'firsts' this past week.

We went down to Las Vegas to visit some of our family and we had such a great time. Carson did great in the car (which I was worried about). We ate lots of yummy food, we got to go to the air show at the air force base which we loved but Carson didn't like it as much:) And we loved getting to spend time with family!!

Carson has also been eating baby food and he loves it!! It is helping him sleep so Mom and Dad are loving it too! :)And sorry no pictures of this one but, Carson had his first HUGE blowout today.....Not so fun for Mom :(

Halloween

Halloween this year was a lot of fun! Even with unpacking, settling in, selling our truck etc...etc....we had so much fun! The weekend before Halloween we carved pumpkins with my parents and they turned out great!

We also enjoyed some time with friends at a Halloween party! Carson wasn't use to all the noise so he wasn't to happy but, Adam and I had a great time!Now onto getting ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas!

I can't believe it is here! I am so excited to be moving out and even a week earlier than we had planned but, let be honest packing is No Fun! Luckily we have so many wonderful friends and family that are willing to help us move (again....:)

I Hate Shots

I hate them even more when I have to see my baby get them. Monday was his 4 month appointment and he had to get his immunizations. He had the same reaction as before and I thought I was mentally prepared for this round. We even gave him Tylenol right after his shots to help. The day went fine and even that night so we stopped the Tylenol even though the Doctor said we could do it for a few days. Last night was the WORST night we have ever had with Carson. He was screaming so hard he would start to hold his breath, we almost took him to the ER because nothing was helping :(

Luckily Tylenol started to kick in and Amazing Aunt Kendra rocked him to sleep!! I seriously hate it when he has to get shots...it's no fun for the entire family.

Our lives are absolutely crazy right now and we couldn't be happier or more excited for our future. We are moving in about 3 weeks so with packing, working and having an adorable 4 month old time for anything else is slim. Here are some photos of the last little while...and yes all photos are of Carson :)

We are getting excited for fall and the upcoming holidays. Pretty sure my Mom has already bought Carson 4 Halloween costumes.

Our little man it seems is eating all the time...he is getting pretty chunky :)

Favorite Football Treat

I know everyone has had Muddy Buddies before but, just in case anyone needed the recipe here it is! I love making this for football games because it is super easy, most the ingredients you already have and everyone LOVES it! We made it for the BYU vs. Utah game (which I don't even want to talk about...) and I am realizing I should have doubled it....:)

9 Cups Chex Mix Cereal (I use the Corn Chex)

1 Cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips

1/2 Cup Peanut Butter

1/4 Cup Butter or Margarine

1 tsp. Vanilla

1 1/2 Cups Powdered Sugar (sometimes I'll add more I just eyeball it)

Into large bowl measure cereal.

Microwave chocolate chips, butter and peanut butter uncovered on high for one minute.

Stir, and microwave for an additional 30 seconds or until smooth.

Stir in vanilla and pour mixture over cereal until evenly coated.

Pour in powdered sugar and mix until evenly coated.

Let cool.

I store mine in the fridge until right before serving and I put some more powdered sugar on right before serving.

We are so blessed but especially lately we have felt the Lord's hand in our lives. We felt strongly that we needed to sell our house and move more up north to the provo/orem area. Since Adam is a real estate agent we got the paperwork together and put our house up for sale. This was on Wednesday morning. Luckily it was my day off. Adam called a few hours later saying there was a family interested in seeing our home that afternoon!! I went on cleaning mode and got the house 'spic and span'. We weren't planning on hearing anything from this family. I think Adam and I were planning on it taking a year or so to sell our house. The next day we received an offer....we were in complete shock!! After countering we accepted their following offer. Is it possible that we sold our house in a matter of days???? I'm still in shock.
So, now we are on the house hunt and we were trying to find something that felt right. We looked at a town home yesterday and we were overwhelmed with a feeling that this was the place for us. It has only been on the market since the 15th of this month. We put in an offer and luckily we are the first offer made on the place.
Now we wait.....
I am so grateful to have the Lord's comfort and blessings in our lives. Even though I know the next month is going to be extremely stressful I am not worried. I feel like we are doing what is best for our family and following the Lord's promptings.
And yes we might be a little crazy but, there is never a dull moment!! :)

You know what is hard? Losing Weight.

You know what is harder? Losing weight after having a baby....

I feel like I have a completely new body that I have to 're-learn' how it works...

Needless to say during my last trimester I went a little heavy on the ice cream.

(Maybe that is why my baby is so sweet:)
( I won't tell you how much I gained....YIKES!)

Now I am paying for it and have been for the last 3 months

but.....

there is a light at the end of the tunnel,

Only 5 more pounds until my pre-pregnancy weight!!!!
Then a few more to my actual goal weight....dieting sucks! :)

3 Months Old

I can hardly believe our little guy is 3 months old!! Yesterday I went through all of his clothes and packed up all of his newborn clothes :( It is bittersweet. I love watching him grow and learn new things but, I'm sad that everyday that passes he is getting older and older.

He is 3 months old today and we are just falling more and more in love with him!

Fallen Off the Grid

Life has been a little hectic lately and so there has been a serious lack in blogging. A lot has been going on and when I have a second to fully report I will. For a quick update....

I returned to work about two weeks ago and it has been bittersweet. I love my job! I love my bosses and the girls I work with...but, leaving my baby is one of the hardest things I've had to do. I am only working three days a week though so I am slowly starting to adjust.

In my spare time (ha..ha) I have been working on some projects for Carson's nursery. I figure while he is a baby I can do the 'cutesy' stuff and once he's older we'll update his room more appropriately :) I'm hoping he'll lean towards pirates.....:) but I'll let that be his decision :)

I added wicker baskets underneath his changing table to keep everything organized. My mom helped me add crystals to his lamp shade and she made this adorable pillow for his rocking chair. The nursery by far is my favorite room in the house!

Lots more pictures and posts to come...when I have a second to breathe :)

2 Month Stats

Carson had his two month check up and I hated this appointment!! He had his immunizations which made him super fussy and he broke out in a fever. And something about watching your baby get shots and scream (and I can't do anything to help) is the worst feeling!!

Other than that though Carson is growing good!

50th percentile for weight.

25th percentile for head circumference.

10th percentile for height.

I was a little concerned his percentile was so low on height but, the Doctor said it is nothing to be worried about.

He did say Carson's right foot isn't as flexible as the left and doesn't look completely correct. So...I get to 'bend' his foot everyday until Carson shows he is uncomfortable....
Hopefully in two months his foot will look better.

The Doctor said he was impressed with how great of a baby he is! He is sleeping through the night. (I don't know if that is normal for an 8 week old...but we're loving it)
He is eating formula but never spits up.
And he is so smiley and loves to coo all the time!!

We just love our little man!!

Running Shoes

As an avid runner in high school and even in college I thought it was time to start running again to get into shape and for a hobby, I have always wanted to do a Triathlon. I started running and as usual my knees hurt the whole way as did my calves and feet. I wore your average Nike brand running shoes that I have had for a while thinking, "Hey they are name brand Nike's they should work great!". Turns out not to be true. I went to an official running store names "26.2" out here in Provo, Ut. They has me run on a treadmill while video taping my stride to analyze my running style. Turns out I run with my ankle angled inward which put the rest of my body and legs out of alignment! They recommended the Brooks GTS II shoe. I put these on and was video taped and analyzed again. These babies sure did the trick, my ankle was back in alignment, $100 later and I was out the door. I did not think $100 was to bad for a real pair of running shoes! Plus that was my birthday present!

When I got home I had to try them on and go for a run! I put them on, plugged in my ipod and had at it. It was amazing! For the first time in years my knees did not hurt while running! I was able to go farther and faster than before! I ran 3 miles in 25 minutes which for just getting back into it, I thought was pretty good. I had previously only been able to run a mile or 2 at most. Also my feet didn't hurt. Between the light weight and added support, I was able to run well and ENJOY IT! I thought my knees hurting was just the way it was when I exercised! Not the case. I would highly recommend getting real running shoes for anyone who wants to run, whether it be for fun, exercise, or competition. I would spend $100 again in a heartbeat for these shoes! I cant wait to see how my time and distance improves with added training!

Carson's Baby Blessing

This past weekend was so much fun! We were lucky enough to have some family in town for Carson's baby blessing. There was a lot of eating, playing the Wii and laughing going on!! We went swimming, had a bbq and even sang Happy Birthday to Adam and Tyler. Adam and I loved having everyone over it made the experience much more memorable and so much fun!! Adam gave Carson the sweetest blessing. It was a special day and Carson was so well behaved through the blessing and all of sacrament meeting! Here are some photos of our wonderful weekend.

I have officially converted to the IPhone. Before I had only used blackberry's and I loved those until I got the IPhone. I love it and I have such a wonderful husband who surprised me with one!A few of my favorite things about this phone is how user friendly it is, the camera is amazing, the apps are awesome and easily accesible and it comes with the Nike Plus app so when I go running or walking it records all of my information and I don't need to worry about wearing my bracelet. Love this phone!!

Mexican Wedding Cakes

I made these delicious cookies for Carson's blessing. I love the way they taste and I think they look great! Plus they are SO easy to make.

Ingredients:

1 cup of butter or margarine (I use butter)
1/2 cup sifted confectioners sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/4 cups flour
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 to 1 cup finely chopped nuts (I normally use walnuts)

Directions:

Mix butter, sugar and vanilla thoroughly. Measure flour by dipping method, and add salt. Blend the flour and salt mixture to dough mixture. Mix in nuts. Chill the dough for at least 10 minutes.

Heat oven to 400 F. Roll dough in 1 inch balls. Place onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes or until set but NOT brown. While still warm roll in powdered sugar. Let cool. Roll in powdered sugar again.

I like to store the cookies in tub a ware a few days before serving.

First off-- Thank you to everyone who had the wonderful comments on how to get into running! It is exactly what I needed and once I get the 'ok' from the Doc to work out I am going to be putting all your good advice to practice!!

Secondly- Thank you to "Dr Brown" for his wonderful baby bottles! Oh my goodness it has only been 24 hours since we started using his bottles and our sweet, calm and nice baby is back!! Poor thing was so gassy and backed up (yep, talking about the babes bowels on our blog...) and the screaming was getting to a breaking point for everyone. And seeing your baby in pain and not being able to do anything is the WORST!! We got some different formula that we've been mixing in with the old and these bottles are Amazing!!

He Did It!!

As I have mentioned before Adam is the most ambitious, hard working and motivated guy I know! He decided not very long ago to get into real estate part time. It is something he enjoys and something that I think he will excel in. He flew threw the courses and took his exam yesterday. Anyone out there who has taken an exam knows how important it is to go in clear minded and focused. Well our morning did anything but that for Adam....

-With a new baby we never make it anywhere on time.....so we got a late start.

-On the way to the exam we spilled orange soda all over the seat....(not a huge deal but, when your tired and rushed every little thing is annoying!!)

-We get to Orem and we can't find the place anywhere!!!!! Adam was suppose to be there at 7:30 (in the morning) and we finally found the place at 7:50.

-And since we cut it so close to the time the test was starting Adam didn't have time to eat his breakfast.

-So I drop him off and I'm heading over to my parents when I hear my phone (which is in the backseat) ringing. I pulled over and realized Adam's calculator which was required for the test was in my purse. I drove WAY over the speed limit to get it to him in time.

Adam called an hour and a half later and told me to come pick him up. He didn't sound all that happy and I was worried with everything going on and all the stress he didn't pass.

But he did!!!!! Adam is officially a real estate agent!!!!

I am so proud of him!!

Running Tips???

I am so NOT a runner but, I really want to be! Every time I run though all I can think about is how much I dislike it. I am use to working out in classes such as kickboxing, yoga etc so running gets really boring for me. Adam and I want to compete in triathlons and I would also someday....like to complete a half marathon.

Any tips out there for a new runner on ways I can train and grow to like it?!?

There is a lot to look forward to when Carson and I hit the 6 week mark! I am dying to work out again!! I've been walking and lifting light weights but, I can't wait to go running, to my kickboxing and cycling classes and to start losing this baby weight.

Any recommendations from any of you out there on the best way to lose baby weight?!? I am open to any and all suggestions!

I am also excited because rumor has it....that babies start to get on a sleep schedule at 6 weeks. Carson sleeps pretty good but, every now and then he has a rough night which, as we all know correlates into a rough night for everyone in the house...including the dog. :)

Projects for the Nursery

I have been working with my Mom's help on some projects to finish up Carson's nursery. The first thing I wanted to do was make canvas's of his name spelled out for his wall. I think they turned out great. I got letters from Robert's that are all taken from temples around the world. It is a little hard to tell it is spelling his name but, I still love the way they turned out!
I will post pictures once these are mounted on his wall. My next big project is his lamp :)

Fourth of July Weekend

Utah really does the Fourth of July right! This is one of my favorite holidays and so far this weekend has been a blast!!

We hung out at my parents and had a bunch of people over for a bbq and to watch the fireworks. Carson was awesome and slept through all of the fireworks.

I made patriotic rice krispies.
I also made homemade Oreo's....so yummy and the easiest recipe!

Happy Father's Day

I am so grateful for 'Father's'! I am so lucky to have such a wonderful Dad who has been such a wonderful example to me! He has taught me patience, hard work and dedication.
I am also so grateful for Adam's dad!! He is such a wonderful Dad and I can see through Adam that he taught him wonderful principles.

Last but definitely not least is Adam. This was his first Father's Day!! We went fishing on Saturday and cooked prime rib and cheesecake for Father's day dinner. I could not ask for a better husband and Carson could not ask for a better Dad!

2 Weeks Old

I can hardly believe Carson is two weeks old! Then again when night time hits I feel like it has been two months :) Carson is the sweetest baby! Seriously, I don't know how Adam and I got so lucky! He is SO well tempered and sleeps great. He had his first appointment with his pediatrician and everything went great. He is now weighing 7 pounds 10 ounces and has grown an inch and a half; so he is now 20 1/2 inches long. Even the Doctor said we have a great, well tempered baby. I am nervous though because everyone notices how great he is.....so I am waiting for the monster inside to be released....hopefully he stays good! :)

Shut The Front Door!

Two nights ago Adam was out working hard on our yard trying to make it someone nice looking. We are still trying to revive it from the previous owners...So, when Adam was finished he told me to go and check out the bushes etc that he had planted. I walked out the front door and shut it behind me. I hear this loud tapping noise and I initially thought it was Snickers. I turned around and I saw the end of a snake smacking our front door. I had shut the door directly on top of it. I don't know how I didn't step on it and I'm glad that I shut it in the door so it wasn't slithering around my house...sick! So poor Adam spent the next little while trying to catch it. It even hissed and its tail shook so we were worried it was poisonous. Luckily, it was just a baby bull snake but, still very creepy! I am now paranoid to open my front door...

Labor Story

Sometimes I use this blog as a personal journal and I have always enjoyed when others shared their labor stories so I thought I would write down what happened. A family member also recommended that during the labor/hospital stay to document what was going on so we could always have the little details. I am so grateful we did this. So here is my perspective on bringing out sweet baby into this world.

Saturday May 28th I woke up and noticed some leaking. Since Adam is a microbiologist he was able to bring home so lythmus paper so I could check to see if it was amniotic fluid. I did and it came back negative so I didn't think anything of it. Adam's sister Jenny and her family were in town so we met up with them and continued on with our day. I was still leaking and it was starting to concern me. I kept telling myself not to over react (which I think is easy to do when your pregnant). I called the hospital to get their thoughts and they told me to hurry to labor and delivery so they could check. We headed to the hospital and they did two tests. The first one was the lythmus paper and it came back negative again for amniotic fluid. She ran the second test and we would have to wait one hour before it was processed. While waiting she checked my dilation and I was still at a one. She said it probably wasn't amniotic fluid but, it was good we came in just to be safe. After the hour had passed the nurse came in and said "good thing we ran that second test, it came back positive for amniotic fluid, we are getting your room ready now". What!?!? I was in complete shock. I wasn't due for another 5 days and I was sure it wasn't my water breaking. Just goes to show you have NO say in anything when your pregnant :)

They took me back to my room and started my IV with pitocin. I heard horrible things about pitocin so I was mentally preparing for something awful. The contractions started to come on fairly strong. My sister in law said to "not be a hero and get the epidural when I needed it". I was so grateful for this advice. I have a hard time admitting I need help and if I hadn't heard this I know I would've had a much harder time. A few hours later I decided I should get the epidural.

I was SO nervous (even saying that feels like an understatement). I literally could not stop shaking. They started the epidrual and it wasn't that bad....I kept waiting for the excruciating pain but, it never came. Don't get me wrong it was uncomfortable but, nothing compared to what I had worked up in my head. While he was doing the epidural I coughed and this caused some problems. I had no idea he was still doing the epidrual since I was numb and I guess I coughed at the worst time. It pushed the epidural farther than it was intended and it turned my epidural into a spinal catheter. The pro's to a spinal catheter is that it was more of a direct line to my lower body so when I needed the medication I would literally start feeling it immediately whereas the epidural they told me can take up to 10-15 minutes. The con's to a spinal catheter is that I couldn't control when the pain meds would be administered like you do when you have an epidural. If I needed more pain meds the anesthesiologist had to be paged and he himself would have to administer it. This caused problems when it was wearing off and he couldn't get to me until he was finished with other things. The other con is that with a spinal catheter the anesthesiologist warned me that it was very likely I would get the worst headache of my life following labor and the best way to fix it was to get another epidural where they would inject drawn blood into my spine....awesome! :( The anesthesiologist was so paranoid about everyone knowing it was a spinal catheter that he posted signs on my fluid drips and outside of my door.
This was the most frustrating night of my life. The nurses kept coming in to check my dilation and nothing....I remained at 1cm ALL NIGHT LONG!!. Why wasn't my body doing what it was suppose to. I was having intense contractions but I wouldn't dilate because my water hadn't "fully" broken it was only leaking. Come 7am Sunday morning the Doctor came in and broke my water hoping that would speed things along. The Doctor was also concerned because the babies heart rate kept dropping after every contraction. She told me if I hadn't progressed in my dilation within the hour we would need to seriously consider a C-Section. I was crushed. I hadn't mentally or emotionally prepared for a C-Section and I was a wreck. Luckily an hour later I had dilated to 3 cm and since there was some progress the Doctor felt comfortable proceeding with a vaginal birth. Throughout the day I continued to progress and by 2pm I had dilated to a 5. By 4pm I had dilated to 10cm and was ready to push!! The nurse said that the baby was fully down and that I shouldn't be pushing for more than an hour or two. I started pushing and baby started to come sooner than even the nurse thought. The Doctor wasn't even there yet and Adam was saying "I can see his head". I am thinking....where is this Doctor?!?!? So for the next few contractions the nurse told me not to push...that wasn't easy. My body was ready to get this baby out :) The Doctor arrived and I could start pushing again. The first push she said the babies head was out and that I could not push until she told me. The cord was wrapped around his neck so she had to make sure she took care of that. She then looked at the nurse and said we would need one more nurse to help push his body out since he was "turtling" which I guess means he was going to be a big baby and it would be hard to get him out.....great! Guess baby was smaller than everyone anticipated because the next push with no help from the nurses he was here!!

No one can explain fully the relief you feel when that baby comes out! It is the greatest feeling!! That night sure enough the worst headache of my life came. The anesthesiologist came and started my second epidural while the nurse drew 15 cc of blood from my arm. Once the blood was drawn the anesthesiologists injected it into my spine. Relief!! Unfortunately the anesthesiologist told me that the chance of the headache coming back was high and that I should just drink caffeine and take my meds...something to look forward to :)

We love our baby Carson and could not be happier!! Even though there were some minor hiccups in the labor process I am so grateful for how everything went. I know things could of been a lot of worse and I would do it all over again for out little baby!!

Now that the due date is less than 2 weeks away everyone is making predictions as to when our little guys is going to make his big arrival! Here are the predictions we have so far:

My prediction is June 4th...2 days after my due date :( I think he is going to stay in there for quite some more time.

Amazing Adam!

From the first time I met Adam I could tell he was a hard worker. Little did I know way back then that he was the hardest worker I would ever know!! There have been many times throughout our marriage where Adam will take on a second, sometimes even a third job just so we can make extra payments on our bills or pay off more debt. We know that we are ok with him working one job but, he is willing to make the sacrifice to get ahead. (Even if it does nearly kill him!) Even after foot surgery he went right back to work delivering furniture (on crutches no less!!!)

With a new house and a baby on the way it is easy to get overwhelmed especially with the finances but, I have been so blessed to have Adam by my side. I know that he has crunched the numbers (countless times and down to the penny) and that no matter what we are going to be ok! Doesn't mean we haven't budgeted or eaten our fair share of ramen:) but, I am always comforted by his hard work to take care of our family.

I am just so grateful for him, his hard work and the wonderful father I know he is going to be to our little guy! I couldn't have married a better man!!

Baby Carrier??

I need opinions on what is the best baby carrier??I have heard that a baby carrier is a great thing to have because it keeps your hands free. I was looking into the Baby Bjorn's which I have heard great things about but, I'm just not sure....Plus there are so many options with the Bjorn's I was wondering if any of you had a preference?!?

There are also baby slings which I have heard mixed reviews on. Any suggestions?!? I am at a total loss here!

First off, I am so grateful to have such a wonderful, loving, supportive, patient, good looking, and hard working husband! (the list goes on and on) I honestly don't know what I would do without him! As time goes on and we endure life's challenges together I realize how lucky I am to have him in my life. He always takes such wonderful care of me! Now onto what I was really posting about :)

Life has been CRAZY to say the least and not all in a good way and to add being uncomfortable on top of it I probably haven't been the most pleasant to be around. (sorry Adam, family and girls at work...) Today was my day off and I had nothing planned until Adam called and surprised me with an already scheduled prenatal massage. It was Heaven!!Massages are just Wonderful but they are even better when your pregnant! Maybe it is because I am in more pain now than I am normally. I went to a spa where their employees had extra training in giving massages to pregnant women so it was a huge relief that they knew what they were doing:) I even got to lay on my stomach with a special maternity pillow they use.

I sure miss sleeping on my stomach...

32 Week Appointment

Today was my 32 week appointment and everything is right on track! It was great to hear my Doctor say "You are getting close to the end!"
I keep having these crazy dreams that our baby comes out a toddler and walks around the delivery room telling everyone Hi :) (I have fears our baby will be big...) but, according to my measurements and everything baby and I are right on track. (Phew). Hopefully things stay that way!

And we have (I think depending on if it fits him when he's born....:) decided on a name!!!! No telling yet though!

Jazz Game

At work thet Doctors gave our staff 4 tickets to the Jazz vs. the New Orleans Hornets game. We had a drawing and I won one of the tickets!! Now, these are no ordinary tickets. These are 2nd row, VIP tickets. We were literally 2 rows behind the New Orleans players and it came with a VIP dinner. The Jazz lost...which really isn't nothing new but the game was great anyways! It went into overtime and everything! Great way to spend a night with some of the awesome girls I work with!!

Our home is finally turning into 'Our Home'. We are mostly unpacked but, I am learning quickly that when owning a home your "To-Do List" is never really done :) I am ready to get our home in order so we can start really getting ready for our little guy!

Speaking of our little guy I am now 30 Weeks!! Only 10 weeks left and I can't wait for him to get here! Instead of feeling little kicks and punches (which I still feel) I can now feel him stretch into my ribs and everywhere!! Sometimes I wonder if he is feeling cramped with how much stretching he does!!

Life is great and hopefully I'll get some pictures up soon once we get some things off our to do list :)

Officially Home Owners!!!

We are officially HOME OWNERS :) We picked up the keys and started to finally chip away at our forever long "To-Do List". First on our list was painting.......I absolutely Hate painting!!! I am to OCD for taping that if it isn't perfect I have to start all over and the same goes with painting. I want everything to turn out and look perfectly. With how much painting we decided and needed to do I was dreading this weekend! Needless to say it is Sunday night and we are both sore and exhausted but very pleased with how everything turned out. Now...onto the rest of our to-do list. I have some before and after pictures but, they don't do it justice. The house was the peachy color so we picked a color close with out the "peach" and it turned out great! It turned out to be a light sand color.

The biggest change was in the nursery. The previous owners painted this room Kermit the Frog Green and even though the picture doesn't show it....they did a terrible job painting! Green was all over the ceiling. Needless to say our work was cut out for us but I think we got the job done very nicely! We picked a light gray for the nursery (I know it looks blue in the picture but, it really is gray :)

I loved this talk given by Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf in the current ensign. I find myself seeing the glass half empty most of the time and this talk gave me perspective that was very needed. I find myself getting easily frustrated with employees, patients and family members lately but, if I look for the good and realize there is so much to be grateful for it makes life much happier!

Getting Anxious!

Everything with 'Our Home' has been going great! We had the home inspection and everything checked out great! Phew!! Everything on our part is done now we just wait until the bank completes what they need to get done on their end. We are expecting to close anytime between March 1st and March 11th. I know that is literally a week away but, there is SO much I want to do for this house; move everything in and start making our house a Home :) We have picked out paint colors, figured out where we are going to be mounting t.v's and we are almost set on all the appliances. I am dying to get things started!!

Exciting news we also payed off our car!!!! :) We have been working so hard at paying off our debt and it is so nice not having any car payments! There is this new feeling I have driving our car now knowing it is completely ours and we owe nothing on it. Now...bring on the house and baby bills :):)

24 Week Ultrasound

Today was a big day for us! I have been an emotional roller coaster worried about the baby having a cleft lip. Some days I was at complete peace and other days I couldn't stop worrying! We had a another ultrasound recommended by our Doctor today to see if we could get a better view of the baby. Even though the baby was still a little stubborn the ultrasound tech got some great pictures of his cute little face and everything is fine!! :) It is pretty rare for a baby to have a cleft palate if they don't have a cleft lip so we aren't to worried about that. As for now baby is right on track for weight gain and seems to be very healthy!! We couldn't be more grateful and more excited!!

23 Weeks

23 Weeks

Second trimester is going really well! I am learning baby's routine on movement. Morning and nights he is practicing kickboxing but during the day he is pretty calm. We had a little scare this weekend and ended up at the hospital for some monitoring. Even the nurse was surprised at how active he was for 23 weeks :) Our second ultrasound is this Tuesday to check for the cleft lip/palate. Hopefully they will be able to confirm either way and hopefully our little guy will cooperate! After a rough start to our weekend Adam surprised me with the crib bedding I have been wanting :) I am so excited for this little guy to be here and to get his little home all ready for him!!

Our First Home!!

Pending home inspection this is our first home! We put an offer in and the bank countered and we accepted!! Once home inspection passes this is our home :) It is located in Santaquin Utah which I am surprisingly really excited about. I am kind of over living in Provo and it will be nice to have our own home and our own land!! The basement is about 50% finished and we have some big plans for it. The house is 3,022 square feet and is on .28 acres.

Oh Pregnancy!

I am loving being pregnant (with a disclaimer:) I love the fact that I am going to be a Mommy, I love the fact that I can feel the baby move everyday, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to be pregnant. There are so many things to love about being pregnant!! But, not to say that is all fun and games. My stomach is not the only thing growing. I swear my arms and legs are way bigger now and even my face seems puffy. (Am I losing my mind?!?) I am very emotional and I find it embarrassing and frustrating. I like to have control over my emotions :) (And I'm sure Adam would like me to have better control over my emotions as well! )

I have reached that point in my pregnancy (now 21 weeks) where I broke down and bought maternity clothes. I didn't realize how uncomfortable I was until I wore maternity pants, I am much more comfortable now :) Everyone kept saying that I didn't even look pregnant. When we saw our Dr for our 20 week apt he said your stomach can literally 'pop' over night. I swear the next day it was apparent that I am pregnant:) Suddenly clothes I was fitting into 3 days ago no longer fit. It seems baby is growing everyday (which is great!) and so is my stomach! We took a picture but I was in this awful, very unflattering dress so we'll get some more and post them :)

It's about time I do a post or two and stop making Maranda do it all the time. So here goes:

UPDATES:
Currently Maranda is 20 1/2 weeks along in her pregnancy. We recently found out it is a HE and are very excited. People constantly ask us, "is that what you wanted?" We always say, we didn't care, which I know sounds cliche, but we meant it. We want a happy healthy baby, boy or girl. Now that this one is a boy (which I am ecstatic about) we will most likely want our next to be a little girl. So far our little boy is very healthy, spine, brain, kidneys, etc all look great. There is one minor thing that they want to look at again. When we went in for our 20 week ultrasound that little buggers arm was covering half of his face. There was a shadow on the left side of his face and they want us to come back in 4 weeks and get another ultrasound to make sure it is just a shadow and not a cleft lip/pallet. If he does have it, I still consider it a blessing if that is the only thing wrong. It is a common surgery and hardly leaves a scar after a little bit and my insurance will cover the surgery at 100%. I still hope he's fine, but if not we can get through it, besides maybe it will add character if it leaves a scar like Joaquin Phoenix.

We are also very busy looking at houses! We have officially started our search for a home. We have been blessed to be able to live in Maranda's parents basement for free while saving money and paying off debt. We agreed before we moved in that we would be out by the time we had a kid, well that time is fast approaching! We are trying to stay in Utah County between Spanish Fork up to Lehi, and out to the closer part of Eagle Mountain. We are deciding between a home and a townhome/twin home. Trying to decide what the best choice will be for resale value. Decide between building or buying. Deciding on price, location, size etc. I did not think it would be this hard or take this long. There is just so much to decide and it is such a big decision. We are realizing that we will know it when we see it (the perfect house, in our eyes) and the main thing to remember and consider is, can we afford it, and can we raise our family there. Ultimately that will be the decisive factor! We'll keep you posted on how the house hunt goes! Also we have an awesome Realtor so if you are looking for one let us know and we can get you his info.

Lastly, we are starting to pick out boy names since we now know that it is a boy! Some names we are considering are: (in no particular order)

Bouncing Baby.....

BOY!!And we could not be more thrilled!! Our ultrasound went great except little baby was pretty stubborn an refused to move his arm away from his face. :) Adam asked the ultrasound tech if she was 100% sure it was a boy. She smiled and said "I'm 200% sure". Baby boy was not shy!! The Doctor's are a little concerned that baby might have a cleft lip so we are going back in a month for another ultrasound to see if they can get a better view. Fingers crossed and lots of prayers that everything is ok!
It is amazing how much we already LOVE this little guy!!

I think the stress is getting to me lately. I think I am actually getting physically sick because the level of stress. Work has been CRAZY!!! We have a huge day at work tomorrow that is very fundamental to our practice which has my mind running a mile a minute. I've been working over 40 hours a week and needless to say I'm exhausted.....

We are house hunting and have put an offer in on a house which is so exciting but also very nerve racking. Is this the right home for us?!? Are the neighbors nice?!? Is everything going to go as needed?!?

And even though June seems far away I am realizing there is a lot to do before baby Crop gets here and I haven't even started!

I know everything will work out but, I am so overwhelmed and stressed!!!

It's Beginning to Look A Lot like Christmas

I LOVE decorating for Christmas!! It brings such a wonderful spirit into our home. This year we did our part of the house in a 'Candy/North Pole' Theme. My mom of course has her elegant tree up with all of her beautiful nativities around the house. Christmas is a week a way and I can hardly believe it. There is still SO much to do! :) My dad and I put up the lights on our house and it was exhausting!! It is nothing close to Adam's house back in New York but, I don't think its too shabby :)

Fun Surprise

Adam's cute sister Rachel works for an OBGYN out in New York. When we got there she said she would try and work something out so maybe we could get an ultrasound and see the little bean:) We were so lucky to get to go in yesterday and have an ultrasound. We saw five little fingers, the little feet etc. It was the neatest experience and it was so nice to have my parents there and Adam's Dad and sister Rachel. Adam and I plus my parents were lucky to go to New York this past week and visit Adam's family out there. I have never been to New York around Christmas and both my parents and I were ecstatic!! It is always so nice to see Adam's family. Every time we go out there I never want to come home. We enjoyed our usual New York favorites like: NY Pizza, Blazing Bagels, Dunkin Doughnuts and the great cooking of Adam's family! I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. At the Mauzy home we had a fantastic Thanksgiving. We made the entire dinner and it was delicious, everything turned out perfectly! I love it when family comes to visit. I never had Grandparents growing up and it was just Trevor and I so our extended family is pretty close. My Aunt Jeaninne is someone I have always adored and loved to visit when I was little. My Aunt lives in Los Angeles and doesn't come out to visit very often so we were so excited to see her! We spent an entire day shopping and all went out for a fun, family dinner at The BonZai. It was great having her in town for a couple of days!

That's right Adam and I are having a BaBy!! Baby Crop isn't due until June 2nd so I am about one week away from being finished with my first trimester! Today we got to hear our baby's heartbeat and it was the neatest experience. We are so excited to be parents!!! Baby now is about the size of a lime.

Salem Pond and Fishing

Adam this past year has picked up a new hobby: Fishing! This past weekend while the weather was still nice we decided to drive down to Salem Pond. The leaves were still in color and the weather was perfect! We spend half they day there and it was wonderful!

Halloween Festivities

Halloween this year was lots of fun. We only had about 4 Trick-Or-Treater's probably due to the ward's doing a 'Trunk-Or-Treat' every year now. We didn't mind though. We dressed Snickers up in lots of costumes (she hates Halloween!), we dipped apples and watched Hocus Pocus. I can't believe Halloween is already past and now we are getting things ready for Thanksgiving! Where has the time gone?!?!?

I have read this book many times but, I love it and read it every now and then. It reminds me so much of my old ballroom coach who had such a positive influence in my life. If you need a quick read that is uplifting and gives much needed perspective this book is for you!

Starting the Halloween Festivites

This is our favorite time of year so we are planning some fun activities to do over the weekends that will help get the wonderful spirit of this season started. This past weekend my mom, and Adam and I went up to Gardner Village. No one does Halloween like Gardner Village and if you've never seen it before it needs to be on your check list!!

This weekend was so much fun! Adam's brother Justin and his cute wife Rachel came down with their cute family to see the BYU Game. Needless to say I was apprehensive we would win due to our record so far...the game was SO much fun and we actually WON!! I still am beating myself up for not taking any pictures :( And we're pretty sure Justin and Rachel were a good luck charm so they'll have to come up more for future games ;)

We had such a wonderful weekend! We cooked a yummy Sunday dinner and walked up to Bridal Veil Falls. It is great weather in Utah right now and this season is mine and Adam's favorite by far. We have started decorating the house for Halloween and getting ready for the great Holidays ahead of us.

BYU Football

BYU Football and lets be honest football season in general is like a religion in our home. Both Adam and I absolutely love it! Yesterday was BYU's first away game against Air Force. It was a pretty embarrassing display of BYU football but, we still had a great time getting together with friends and family.

Remembering

I remember this day like it was yesterday. I was in 8th grade between classes when the news hit. We were asked to report to home room and everyone was really confused as to what was going on. Right when I arrived to home room the t.v. was on and saw the second plane hit. We are remembering all the families who lost loved ones this day 9 years ago.

Two nights ago Adam and I were driving home. We were talking about life, work, etc. We are almost home and are now driving on Timpview Drive (for those of you who don't know, this road runs right by Timpview High School) when out of no where there is this loud smack on our windshield and stuff all over the car. Adam very calmly pulls over and then flips around just to give the guys who did this a scare. We followed them for a little while until the kids quickly pulled into a garage and shut it. (Like we would do anything to them anyways) I am SO angry though! Luckily Adam is a great driver but, that could have caused an accident and it nearly gave us a heart attack. Looking at the car the next morning turns out they were throwing apples at cars because there is apple smeared all over my windshield and down the side of my car. So frustrating!

Disappointed

I know when reading books you can't always expect the ending you would like to have and yet, I am still disappointed in the way the Hunger Game series ended. Not to say I didn't love reading this series....it honestly kept me up at nights and I finished the third book in one day!! Now, if your reading this series I won't blow the ending for you. And it's not to say its a terrible ending but, it wasn't what I wanted! Has anyone out there read the entire series and is feeling the same way?!?I would still recommend this series to anyone who enjoys 'quick reads' that are full of excitement!

Viva Las Vegas

For Labor Day weekend Adam and I decided to get away from Provo and head down to Las Vegas. We stayed in the Aliante hotel which is in North Las Vegas and about 5 minutes away from Adam's brother Justin and his family. It worked out great that more family decided to come to Vegas! Jenny and Matt with their cute kids came and also Jared and Tiffany and their cute kids came!! Seriously, I have the CuTeSt nieces and nephews and I didn't take very many pictures :( We got a great deal on our hotel and we enjoyed the amenities. It had a wonderful pool, great work out room and a wonderful room (with a 42 inch plasma that Adam loved...)
It was so HOT!! Driving down to Vegas we got a reading of 112 degrees!! So we soaked up some rays, hung out with family and visited the Strip to see all of the lights.

Spur of the moment last night we decided to get some friends together and head down to Mona and go off the rope swing. I wasn't feeling up to it but Adam had some fun.
